"I am not a great Starcraft 2 player. Actually I’d go so far as to say that I’m a bad Starcraft 2 player, especially where micro is concerned. I usually get by with solid macro and knowing what to do to counter builds thereby winning by the might of the build."
LOLOLOLOL. that's funny.
The thing is, you don't really see Stargate off of FFE too much anymore because it autoloses to the pretty standard 3 hatch roach/ling that zergs make in anticipation of the 6 gate. It looks like a fun build though, but probably in the category of the spine crawler rush, except with more reliance on the protoss fucking up.
cool post though, that was a good video and explanation

very interesting.
Just to play devil's advocate, I think it's kind of cool that only the most hard core NASLers will be able to compete at a high level. Maybe it could be the "Iron Man" of tournaments; which tests not only skill but endurance. That said though, I think that if it affects players' health, it's not so good. And with such a weighted prizepool, it doesn't seem worth it unless you know you have a real shot at the top spot.
It will be interesting to see how it will develop in any case

Balance changes are good. Professional players spending their time bitching and moaning about balance changes are not good. We don't work for blizzard and it belittles the game we spend time on and play to complain about that game and essentially displace all credibility. Even if you think the game is imbalanced you shouldn't rant and rave all over the place about how "broken" the game is and "pathetic" every result is.
Appreciate the response big fella

iNcontroL! It's so admirable to see the NASL come together. It must have taken so much drive and commitment.. not to mention you're playing and training as well. Best of luck in the future!
I had a question though: In state of the game, you and Day9 think that the infestor change was good. You both think that the templar change was if not good; reasonable. You both acknowledge that indeed MOST of the balance changes in the game have been beneficial to the game as a whole. However, you both scoff at any balance discussions, or just make sarcastic comments. I don't see the logic in that.
Balance doesn't affect me at all. I play zerg and I can always strive to be as good as Idra. You can have a great win ratio on ladder with any race, as evidenced by the distribution of the top players. But i find balance discussions to be some of the most interesting discussions when they don't get shot down by you or day9. So I'm just throwing in my vote to hear more discussions as they relate to balance; if for no other reason than to humor the people who like to hear them (like me ;D).
But again, best of luck. The NASL is fucking awesome. I'll be rooting for you!

No homo, but the removal of losses has really helped me become better.
When I tried to make sure I always had a positive win ratio, I used to cheese a lot (baneling bust, speedling allin etc) for free wins. This resulted in me being placed higher than I really deserved. Lately though I've been able to play longer games (losing many at first) and start to actually understand the game.

I actually made a little test episode of one of these. My machine can't handle good quality though DX. Hopefully someone gets on it though, it would be really cool.

This post actually came at the perfect time for me. Just had a horrible night of laddering.... :(

Really nice post.
Maybe in the next one you could give your thoughts on the flexibility of different openings. Spanishiwa's "ice fisher" is creating a bit of a buzz, and although it is more safe and economical when defending 4 gates, void rays, etc, it is much less able to switch into an aggro opening; with the midgame looking almost identical so any 14 hatch or 14 pool standard build.
looking forward to the next essay fella

I've watched his stream quite a bit lately. It seems exceptionally strong vP, and quite solid vZ. I'm not sold yet on vT but he plays so few of those it's hard to tell.
Also, I don't think he is known yet for the build. It is very strong against protoss cheese, yet many still try to 4/6 gate him. I wonder if Protosses will start to blind 15nex when they see that they're matched up against Spanish.
So I think it's a solid build, but its success might be inflated because of his opponents' unfamiliarity with it.
btw before anyone flames, they should check out the stream. Not only will you see the build, but last night cruncher 4gated into DT vs Spanishiwa, and lost to a nydus with about 10 queens, a million zerglings, and probably 10 infestors that neural parasited a fuckton of colossi and voids.

some great ones are Metalopolis, Tal Darim Altar, Shakuras Plateau, among others. ;)
just play the game. Play against an easy AI on slow speed if you have to and see how fast you can max

Ah very cool. I watch the VT stream quite often.
Could you do clan nrg next? So many of them are in the top 200, and they were/ are a fuckin rad BW clan; but alas I know almost nothing about their individual players.

just as a first impressions I think that it is a reddit that is catered specifically to starcraft. Rather than using the general reddit infrastructure, it uses its own.
2 in Why WellPlayed? -
just a little bug i noticed: when you are watching a stream, and change the "updates/discussion" tabs at the bottom, the stream minimizes and pauses.

thisisjimmy opens every zvt with a bunker and a reaper or 2.
We saw qxc use surprise reapers in the TSL.
I think they're "viable" in the sense that they have very specific uses. As far as a reaper centric build.... probably not. If it's viable, you will 99% of the time see at least 1 pro use it.
3 in Are Reapers Still Viable?

cool man will check out.
