Today is the last day to register! We currently have 23 people signed up and ready for action. Now remember, the doors open at 10AM and we start at 11AM. SO if you show up after 11, you'll have to sit this one out until next year, so plan accordingly.

This is the last time I will be updating the bracket as I will pack my PC up when I get home from work tonight. Good luck to everyone! -
Sorry it took so long to update. You can thank the storm that ran through New England for killing my net. Anyway, we have 13 registered players for Saturday. A lot of new faces amongst them as well. SUNDAY IS DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME. Also, do me a favor and print this out, take a picture, and send it my way with the location. FOR ESPORTS! http://www.nesc2league.com/images/providence_flyer_2011.pdf

About 1 week has gone by and we have 6 people registered for the last chance finals. At the current count, 66% of the entrants will be going on to day #2. Remember, entry is $10 cheaper this time around and you can also get NESC2League T-shirts for $20 at this event. This will be the last chance to get one before MLG Providence, so make sure to grab one and show your colors!
The Kingston gear should be showing up within the next 2 weeks and as soon as I get it, the prize listings will be updated.
Also, Best Western looks like the best bet for lodging.

As posted, I will update the current prize pool and the door prize list for both days. I will also add the current qualified players in a spoiler tag when I get home from work today.
This is a 2 day event that does not go overnight, but rather STARTS AT 11AM EACH DAY. Please make sure to show up as close to 10am as possible to avoid being left out of the tournament. Rumor has it that a few high profile names may show up to watch the tournament on location. And as always, spectators must pay a $5 fee, but are eligible for the door prizes.

I spoke with Dan, the head of Xana IT and co-organizer, last night on the phone. Looks like everything is back in order and we are actually going to be having fiber optic style speeds. Not super necessary for this event, but that should give us plenty of bandwidth. We are still a go!

There may be a problem that has only recently come up, outside the control of the New England SC2 League, Xana IT, and Amherst Media. This involves the internet connection, which directly effects everything we are trying to do. There is a tentative rain date set for October 22/23. Please note, IF the problem is not rectified, we will be emailing everyone to inform them of the change of date more than 24 hours in advance. We will also be issuing a full refund to those individuals that will not be able to attend the event if it is rescheduled.
Please bear with us we try to fix the situation.

Remember everyone, tomorrow is the last day to register for the tournament and we have a good amount of computers now for people to use. Also, ALL spectators need to purchase a spectator pass by tomorrow as well.
One last thing. If you had so much fin that you want to stay the whole night, and just happen to have your computer nearby. $5 on site will get you in for the whole night, space available.

I have some good news for anyone wanting to signup for the SC2 tournament, teams for the LoL tournament, or everyone that has already signed up. I just got an email from Kingston and it turns out all the gear they sent me will be for this event. I don't have all the details on hand, but the cream of the crop prize is a 96GB SSD. I will post all the prizes later today when I get home. On an equally important note, you should all head over to the Kingston FB community page and show your love for an amazing sponsor!

As a grassroots tournament organizer, I've seen a lot of this first hand on the smaller side, but it is still scalable. Luckily, I made the NESC2League into a self-sustaining model where all the money goes out to the people competing, and none of it goes to the casters, admins, etc. that's all well and good for the players, but even with ad revenue, it doesn't make up for gas mileage or the time outside of the tournament. It also doesn't leave any money in the league to improve on streaming equipment or improving production. Now I'm moving everything into a semi-pro national model and the money issue comes up even more with multiple sets of streams going out there. Noting that, I don't really think that PPV for the content being provided by MLG is worth it due to the lack of other content. If there was more of a build-up, absolutely. But right now, there isn't and if that was fixed with the build-up material being free or low yearly sub based ($4.99/yr), I'd gladly dish out money to see the climax of a building story. So really what I'm saying is I don't think the current overall format is good for MLG right now, subscription is better IMO and they are doing good for our industry by bringing attention to the lack of ROI that threatens a lot of major events.
