  • Ok, who out there has paid for coaching, I'm currently stuck at the top of my division in platinum and can't quite get over the hill, I'm curious if anyone out there has paid for coaching and what their experience was.

Edit: Sorry for the lack of specifics posting this right before bed, I'm mostly interested in Protoss coaches.

    Pages:

I have had 1 lesson with Desrow, I'm certain he's a good teacher just not my style. I suggest checking out www.hotkeyit.com they have many good coaches. They can look at your replays and tell you what you are doing wrong. A leak finder if you will. This will most likely pay off better than a coach showing you a strategy than you may already know. The leak finder is customized to you, to your stlye which is what makes it great.

Not sure if you're on NA or EU, but on EU there are several communities which help people such as Mixed Fruit, you can get custom games, tips and even coaching from masters / diamond players to help improve your game.

Again, im not sure which region you are from and cannot comment on any such communities in NA but it may be helpful to check these out (as they are generally free) before spending money on coaching...

I'm on NA. I'm mostly just hoping to get other people's thoughts if they paid for coaching and thought it was worth it. I love sc2 but spending upwards of $80 per hour isn't realistic to me, I have a family to feed. I am willing to pay but that just seems a little silly to me. I think I'm going to look at hotkeyit.com for sure also looking at acelessons.com that seems to have reasonable prices.

Also I'm hoping to hear if anyone ever got coaching and realized a substantial result as far as their playing goes. Thanks for the replies!

    I coach Protoss for $10/hour.

Here is a link of some of my previous students - http://teamenvy.net/#/coaching/1/12

If you wish to watch some of my play, I do stream @ twitch.tv/sc2combat

You can probably check out some of my Vods there.

Cool website, you should be hearing from me soon, thanks for the reply, that price seems more than fair to me, considering the benefits.

Ok so assuming I am the kind of person that would be open minded to what a more knowledgeable player would tell him, (which i am) what kind of results could i expect, assuming im playing with a full deck and didn't get kicked in the head by a horse in my childhood or anything. currently im platinum, i know i've heard most coaches say that a person at least gets to diamond with coaching, though i know you obviously can't guarantee anything since im the one that still has to play the games, how well do your students usually perform?

Results speak for themselves as you can see from my other students I've coached. I think every single one of them has bee promoted over time and one, talon, came from bronze to top platinum. However, I do not want to take credit from my students for their success; that is all theirs. I will give tips and builds (if must) that will improve your game overall. I don't necessarily try to teach "OP" builds or abusive builds that usually win games in the lower league as a coach. I would rather see my students improve and not see them win because of the build itself. Now it's up to you as the student if you want to keep the tips and builds (if given) and what to do with it.
