An article I wrote in tribute to WP and the IPL's production. Not just because it's amazingly good and flashy and pretty colors, but because it emphasizes what really matters: the players.
Awesome, good article. Love the intro vids!
PS
It's ok to like the flashy and pretty colors too right, lol.
3Great article! I can't agree more. The quality of those events and production capability are certainly something we are trying to achieve or potentially greater. The focus on the players is also a top priority. It's hard to get "into the game" and root for a side without knowing some history behind the players facing off.
2I was tempted to use the Bacchus OSL 2008 intro instead of the 2010 intro:
&feature=relatedDespite its "playfulness", this seems like the style of WP
1It's totally grand that the IPL is doing such an ace job at presenting SC2, and I'm actually finding it to be so much cleaner than the leagues that pride themselves on their sponsors and advertisers. IPL is a step in a direction I like, but I'm really afraid it won't last too long, seeing how SC has become a nice quick way to make a profit. Even lowly streamers and commentators are liking the profit and popularity you can see from placing a few ads and possibly having sponsors, but the IPL doesn't drive it as hard as most.
Although, somewhere at the top of IGN there is News Corporation and Rupert Murdoch, it's still really refreshing to see it kinda not influencing the content of the site!

Wow great article there shindigs. The players really are one of the most important parts of a tournament, and I think our production crew at WellPlayed and the IPL staff did a great job of promoting that.
