Hey currently I'm watching IEM Kiev and there's a lot of downtime so I thought you might want something to read; so I wanted to announce and invite you all to a new blog I started covering mental skills training in eSport. :D As a big esport community I'd love your feedback on my content, and whether or not you would adjust it in any direction.
Right now I don't talk much about anything but League of Legends and Starcraft 2 since I don't really follow the FPS or racing scene much (although I play plenty of FPS I don't spectate it much) My interest in sport psychology related to esports started because I am getting my master's in sport and exercise psychology right now and teaching sport psychology as well as coaching on the side. At the same time I got really into spectating LoL on top of SC2, and I saw so much carry-over of all the common techniques for performance enhancement in elite sport that could apply to elite eSport as well. So this is my attempt to explore that angle. I'm also putting together some research plans to try and publish something in the field myself that explores that angle. But in the meantime one of the things I am trying to do on the blog is also cover current research that is out there on esports in general or any sport psychology news that I think applies well to competitive play.
If you want you can check it out at http://mindgamesconsulting.wordpress.com The grand opening is this weekend for IEM Kiev; I want to comment on the mental angle while I am spectating the event. I've been posting content since about mid December, so stop by and please give me any feedback you can!
Thanks, Weldon
